When selling, or buying of a 26-year-old player whose current contract is less than 70 days, his contract will also be automatically extended to a new 70-day no-trade clause contract (as have 27+ players so far). We are responding to unpleasant and confusing situations that arise when buying such a player, especially before the end of the season and the subsequent aging of the player to 27 and his sometimes immediate departure to the unprotected market.
