Quick question: when does the new season kick in exactly and when are current jerseys (+1 loy) allocated? In other words, is there a chance for 23yo players to receive them before transferring them to the main team without risking them going UFA?

I wouldn't risk it. The jerseys should be allocated at 19:00, but as I remember, some managers had problems to move 23yo players from U23 to A team between 19:00 and 22:00.

It can be done but with some kind of risk. The jerseys are donated to players shortly after 19:00 on the last Saturday. The player has to be eligible for the jersey and in the U23 team at the time. The age of players doesn´t change before 22:00, when all the changes are finished at the end of the update.
The problem is that once the big seasonal update at 19:00 starts, you are not able to transfer players between U23 and main team, since the system is working all the time from 19:00 till 22:00 (unlike the everyday situation) ... BUT you can still delete your U23 team between 19:10 and 22:00 - that way the player can receive the jersey, if he is lucky enough, you lose your U23 team and all the players return to main team even during the update.
Tested that last season, it works, unfortunately my player was not chosen for the jersey. Of course you have to create a new U23 team and you lose all the planned friendlies and you will probably play in a different league with your U23 team...

Thanks a lot for the responses! I ended up not taking the risk cause I need to keep my U23, but this is good stuff to know!
