26.01.2007 - Passing skill in the match - new approach

Because we wanted a better and more realistic use of the Passing skill in matches we have made this change:
Good/bad pass will increase/decrease the chance that the shooter will score. All passes including those from defenders will affect the chance. Information about the passes will be displayed in the match report.

This change will be effective from 9.2.2007 (9th February), The information about passes will be displayed starting in today's matches (but until 9th February without the passes affecting shots!) so you can adjust things.

This is how the attributes affect match performance after this change:

The following is a list of key skills per player position:

Goalie
Goalie - primary skill
Speed - primary skill
Passing - currently not used, its value is automatically added to Goalie skill
Selfcontrol - currently not used, its value is automatically added to Goalie skill

Defenseman
Defense - primary skill
Strength - primary skill
Speed - secondary skill

Center
Attack - primary skill
Speed - secondary skill
Strength - primary skill on faceoffs

Winger
Attack - primary skill
Speed - secondary skill

Defensemen use all 'attacking' attributes (a bit less than attackers) when attacking and vice versa.

Special attributes usage

Shooting - used by forwards and defensemen to score goals

Strength - used for effective body-checks and hits on the opponent (Also affected by the aggressiveness setting of a line)

Self-Control - the ability to avoid taking dumb penalties (Also affected by the aggressiveness setting of a line)

Passing - used by forwards and defensemen - Passing will now affect the quality of scoring chances in the match. A skater with a higher passing rating will generally produce better, cleaner passes for the recipient. This will produce better scoring chances.

Additionally, players with higher passing skill will also have a lesser tendency for their passes to be intercepted by the opposition.
